Little Miss H is now 15 months old. She is growing up far too quickly for my liking.
Let me tell you about her favourite things from her 15th month:
Walking - Now that she has started there is no stopping her. It is hard to believe that she took her first proper steps only a few weeks ago.
Spoons - Little Miss H was bought a beautiful Emma Bridgewater tea set for her birthday. It includes four tiny tea spoons. LM is obsessed.
We can't understand why she loves the spoons quite so much. But they clearly make her very happy.
She collects them together first thing in the morning and then wanders around the flat clutching on to the spoons for dear life. It couldn't be any cuter!
Soft play - Little Miss is a huge fan of soft play. I lift her down from her pram and she is off. She is a toddler on a mission. A mission to cause havoc. I no longer have any control.
She particularly adores the various bouncy castles at Toddler Sense. She clambers on and rolls around giggling. Heaven help all the other toddlers who want to get on as well. Little Miss lurches into them like a drunkard. I am constantly apologising to the other mums.
Then when she wants to go to another piece of equipment she doesn't wait for me to lift her off. And she doesn't climb off backwards as we have taught her. NO! That would be boring Mummy! Instead, she does a forward roll and lands giggling on the floor. She is obviously destined to be a stunt double or a gymnast.
Books - Yesterday afternoon, Little Miss found my copy of A. S. Byatt's "Possession". She walked into the living room with it clutched in her hands. She sat down and started to leaf through the pages. Her expression was one of pure concentration. Looking at her like that, I could almost believe that she understood every word on the page.
Vegetables - I always thought that children hated vegetables. I believed that if you wanted your child to eat anything green then it needed to be cleverly disguised or smothered in a sauce. For many parents, trying to get their darling offspring to eat a carrot or courgette is a daily battle.
This is not the case for us. Our daughter must be the only child in the world who would quite happily have a diet that was exclusively made up of fruit and vegetables.
She doesn't seem bothered with bread. Chicken and ham end up on the floor and she turns her nose up at fish. But place a chick pea curry in front of her and it disappears in a flash.
On Bank Holiday Monday we went for a family lunch to Pizza Express. We ordered Little Miss a tiny pizza with a topping of chargrilled vegetables. She very carefully picked off and ate every single tiny piece of vegetable. When we tried to encourage her to eat the pizza we were given a very disapproving look.
The past month has been full of milestones and I am a very proud mummy. Little Miss is now walking; her first molars have cut through; her vocabulary has improved and she is becoming a gorgeous and sociable little person. I love that:
- She now says "uh-oh" if she falls over.
- LM will waddle around the flat until she has found Maxie the Monkey and Rosie the Rabbit. She will then give them a huge kiss and wander around the rest of the house with Maxie in one hand and Rosie in the other.
- She likes to help mummy with chores. She will wipe down her highchair table after a meal. She also enjoys loading and unloading the washing machine. The other day I found a half eaten breadstick and her "That's not my tiger" book amongst the dark wash.
- Little Miss clearly adores her cousins. It has been brilliant that they have been able to spend time playing together this month.
- If we go for a walk she will put her little hand in mine and we stroll along together. It makes my heart sing.
