This week has been a little bizarre. Little Miss H hasn't really been herself and at the start of the week we thought she had chicken pox. It turns out that it was a post viral rash as she was recovering from an ear infection. I felt awful that I hadn't noticed the infection. I just assumed that her grumpiness and temperature were down to teething. I'm a bad mummy!
Little Miss H seems much better today and we're looking forward to a weekend of seeing friends and having cuddles with a little baby. But before then it is time to share my #littleloves and link up with the fabulous Love the Little Things on But Why Mummy Why.
Read
Oh, I wish, I wish I had time to read books. I used to love reading books. Curling up on the sofa and spending an hour immersed in a good novel is my idea of bliss. Made all the more pleasurable if accompanied by a large mug of tea and a chocolate bar.I am resolving here and now (and I expect you, dear readers, to hold me accountable to this resolution) to spend a minimum of an hour a week reading a novel. I'll fill you in next week on how I'm doing.
Watching
Mr H and I settled down the other night and watched the Bruce Willis movie "RED". It definitely isn't Oscar worthy but it was a fun and silly film and had some good action. Plus, it had a fantastically witty performance from Helen Mirren. She plays a retired MI6 assassin who hides a machine gun in her flower arrangements.Wore
A few weeks ago, I went for a kid free shopping trip to Bluewater. The sole aim of my trip was to buy a dress to wear to a wedding that we attended last weekend. I had a nightmare trying to find anything.
Eventually I settled on this dress from Oasis. I teamed it with a thin black belt and black necklace from Debenhams (both were in the sale and both were absolute bargains), a Primark bracelet, my Coach handbag and some thick black tights. I had been wearing some black suede heels from Dorothy Perkins but they were murder on my feet. I swapped them for my very comfortable and adored suede ASOS ankle boots. I also had a small New Look black jacket for when it got chilly.
Heard
Little Miss has been taking longer naps this week. During that time I have been able to listen to some of my favourite music. These two classics have been getting an outing this week:
Bonnie Prince Billy's "I See a Darkness" is hauntingly beautiful. He has such an amazing voice.
John Grant's "TC and Honeybear" is my favourite track from his first album. It is a gorgeous song and I love the use of the opera to heighten the drama.

Made
We've been trying to introduce Little Miss to colours. I thought that discovery bottles would be a brilliant way to do this. I raided my craft bag and bought some cheap bits and bobs from Poundland and the Range and placed them into bottles. They seem to be a great hit. I am especially fond of Mr Pink (the original bottle) and Mr Green.
And lastly
All of Little Miss H's activities have started up again after the summer break. We had swimming on Thursday and next week Toddler Sense starts again. It will be great to get back to a regular routine.
What have you been up to over the last week? Have you got any plans for the weekend?

I miss reading too!! I used to read every night before bed but now I am asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow! I honestly cannot think when I am ever going to read again, maybe when the girls are a bit older! x
ReplyDeleteI was exactly like this. I used to read a book a week sometimes more. I commuted to London for work and got to read a lot on the train. I don't know when I'm going to fit in my hour a week but I shall try. It will be good to have some downtime too. I'll let you know how I get on. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
DeleteLove your outfit for the wedding. I often have to swap heels for flats these days too!
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of those coloured discovery bottles! What a fantastic idea, no wonder they are a hit with Miss H! xx
Thanks for the lovely compliment. I was quite pleased with the outfit. It was also practical for running around after a grumpy toddler. I was definitely happier in my boots. Those DP's shoes were hell to wear. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
DeleteI've attempted to watch Red twice so far on Film 4, but I'm always laid in bed and end falling asleep after about 40 minutes! x
ReplyDeleteHa ha! It is probably the perfect film to fall asleep to as it requires no concentration whatsoever. I used to like highbrow films. But since having a baby the sillier and less complicated the better.Hugs Mrs H xxxx
DeleteThose bottles are a fab idea! Must make those when Austin is older! You look fab in your dress :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Little Miss H loves those bottles and plays with them daily. It just goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune on expensive toys when kids are quite happy with a plastic bottle filled with glitter! Hugs Mrs H xxx
