The one lovely blog award

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

The fabulous Heledd from Running in Lavender recently nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award. Thank you so much gorgeous lady. As Mr H describes my blog as "a gigantic pile of loveliness" I am thrilled to be nominated for this award.

The rules for this award are simple:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.
2. Share seven facts about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 or so bloggers that you admire.
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know about the nomination.

A few months ago I published the post 25 facts about Mrs H. (It includes what happened when I met Mr H's friends for the first time. Spoiler alert: it was messy.) So I am going to follow Heledd's lead and share 7 Christmassy facts instead:

1.) Christmas in our household begins on 1st December and lasts the whole month. On 2nd January, the decorations come down and we throw ourselves with gusto into the New Year.

2.) Every Christmas Mr H and I will sit down and watch "Labyrinth". The. Best. Film. Ever. As a child, I used to dream that I was the girl in the crystal ball dancing with David Bowie.

3.)When I was a little girl, I asked Father Christmas for a doll. I sent him a picture of the exact doll that I wanted. On Christmas Day, I received a note from Santa. The letter explained that he and his elves had searched everywhere but had failed to find my doll. Instead, he had placed another special dolly under the tree. One that he knew I would love. Santa was right. I adored that doll and gave her the name that decades later I would give to our daughter.

Mrs H, the toddler - check out that retro decor!

4.) One of my happiest Christmas memories is helping my Gran to put up her hair in the mornings. I used to sit on her bed, talking nonsense, handing her Kirby grips and watching in awe as she coiled her long plait into a tight bun. I can still remember the scent of her face powder and the look on her kind face as she precisely placed each hair pin.

5.) When we were really young my brothers and I received our presents from Father Christmas in sacks. We protested profusely the year we were told that Santa was downgrading to stockings. It seemed completely unfair.

6.) We used to perform a mini family carol concert after dinner on Christmas Eve. My brothers would skulk off to watch TV. My mum would play the piano and my grandparents and father would be forced to listen to me singing "Away in a manger" and "The little drummer boy". Thinking about it now, it seems like the whole concert was one big ego trip for little me.

7.) At 15, I played the Angel Gabriel in a church nativity play. A special blue light was purchased to enhance my ethereal performance. Sadly, this angelic grace was ruined by the four little boy shepherds who decided to put their heads up my skirt!

I now have to nominate 15 wonderful bloggers to receive the award and share 7 facts about themselves. I am afraid that I am going to bend the rules again and nominate these lovely ladies:

Aby at You Baby Me Mummy
Becky at 3 Princesses and 1 Dude!
Leigh at Headspace Perspective
Hannah at Mums' Days
Em at Snowing Indoors
